SEER

Electroacoustic Performance, Installation

Commissioned for performance in ME’DI•ATE Art Group’s Soundwave ((5)) Humanities

SEER is concerned with the deeply human desire to know the future, even if it can’t be understood.  Texts are taken from newspaper horoscopes, the Oracle at Delphi and academic writings on Chinese oracle bones.  For the performance Shane and I also designed and built a new instrument that responds to ambient light and shadow.  This instrument has been presented as an installation piece at ARUP’s Penguin Pool and at the Soundwave Festival’s kickoff at the California Academy of Sciences.
